Break out of inertia… this program reestablished my confidence… I felt like a child again!
“Exercise… The first sign of struggle and I was done.
Stress about the world, the country, my work, was overwhelming me and I needed to do something to help myself. My health was suffering and I was having a now or never kind of feeling… I was feeling trapped and had to focus on me, on my health.
The Art of Strength Deep Dive was not “exercises” to struggle through, they were ways to connect to yourself and to help your body… There’s no competition; there’s no pushing to do better. It’s a connect to your body where you are now and a semi-meditation at the same time. It’s about how the muscles work, what their function is in a purely physical way; and in “spiritual/emotional” terms, how they help you move through life. I found that the talking that Tammy did engaged my brain just enough to distract it from the fact I was “exercising” and gave me something to think about then and later.”
Sherri Kendrick, Reference Librarian
“No one ever got me to the same bat-channel and bat-time five weeks in a row! The Art of Strength Deep Dive not only helped me lose weight and gain alignment, I’ve sustained both! The mind body aspect helped to de-stress and recharge my sensitive gut issues, and recharge the rest of me. It was an eye-opening multi-layered experience with supportive group connection.”

My name is Mariana, I grew up in Mexico and I’m currently living in NYC. I have a BA in psychology and I’m always interested in diving deep in learning more about myself and how to evolve in my journey. For those reasons I was excited to be part of The Art of Strength course.
The Art of Strength was an opportunity to explore the senses, the mind, and the body as individual entities of one’s being, as well as a collective. I discovered secrets of my unconscious through my body’s resistance and learned ways to release the tension.
Tammy Wise was a supportive and loving guide. It was joyous and deeply moving to watch every video and read each piece of writing as it was infused with wisdom. I am grateful for all I learned and what I continue to integrate.

“It takes two to tango, as the saying goes; however, the truth in tango is that each one is “on their own” in some aspects. Each partner has to take responsibility for his or her own balance, to remain on his or her axis, and not to rely on the other person to “do the job.” Working with Tammy helped me to reach that goal. And more so I, with a better understanding of alignment, became more selective as to the dancers I choose to partner with.”
Denise Shalev, Origami Artist and Teacher
“The Art of Strength Deep Dive is a unique approach to fitness, focusing on the mind/body connection while developing personal strength and awareness. Tammy Wise, a gifted and knowledgeable trainer, is both supportive and fun, and her program can be adapted for persons at all fitness levels.”

A One & Done Experience!
“For my 40th birthday, I gifted myself a trip to Antarctica. I was 6,600 miles away from home getting ready for an adventure of a lifetime.
Days before the trip, I woke up feeling depressed with extreme pressure in both my eyes. I connected with Tammy via Zoom and opened up about my inner anxiety and the physical pain it was causing me. She was calm and understanding. She created a space where I was encouraged to acknowledge the pain.
Her words healed me. First, I felt emotional relief then the excruciating pressure in my eyes was released. I am forever grateful to Tammy for coming to my rescue..”

“Tammy has helped me bring relaxation from the massage table into my training regimen.
She’s helped me to experience “less is more” through physical alignment. As a result, I realize balanced-strength offers––my pitching game––more, speed and accuracy, than brute-strength.
I’m a 20-year-old student at Monroe College shooting for the big leagues. I’ve received multiple bodywork treatments from Tammy to recover from training. But after just one training session, I can see what Tammy’s contribution to my game is––flow and longevity.”

What people are saying about Personal Training
“Being of a certain age I have had many personal trainers and taken many fitness classes through the years. But never have I had a trainer with as much knowledge of the human body as Tammy Wise. Her masterly book “The Art of Strength,” which addresses one’s whole being, illustrates her mind/body strategy for physical fitness. She also has a rare, invaluable talent: verbal images that suddenly make a particular exercise uncannily clear and purposeful. I’m becoming fit to a degree I never anticipated. She’s the best physical coach I’ve ever had.”
“Working-out with Tammy is like having a therapist for my body!
She offers me greater awareness of the mind body connection. Specifically, how the body holds emotions as tension. Through strength, flexibility and balance training she helps me learn from, and release, this tension. And the result is, greater alignment in my posture; as well as, confidence moving through space.
I always think about things after my sessions. Never just about the physical.”
“I only started working out with Tammy in my seventies, having never been an athlete or in very good shape. I have learned so much about my physical and spiritual being in these five years with Tammy.
These last few weeks I’ve been traveling in Italy, walking 7 to 8 miles a day in very hot weather. Yesterday I did a 4-mile hike that involved walking up 400 stairs, and then walking down 400 stairs. Thanks to Tammy my knees and quads functioned really well. I said a silent thank you to Tammy for the alignment I felt in my body on those 800 stairs.
Tammy has added so much value to my life. As I turn 80, I look forward to continuing our work together.”
“Tammy Wise’s powers to heal, to guide, to strengthen and to transform touch 3 generations in my family. Her work with me, my parents and my children has helped each of us live life more fully, vibrantly and aware.
Tammy’s philosophy and approach results in much more than physical improvement in fitness, strength, balance and flexibility – it has the power to transform the very way in which you love and care for yourself, mind and body. Plus, she is a joy to work with, bringing grace, elegance, wisdom and fun to the journey.”
“I first met Tammy, in my early thirties, when I started going to her Strength Training classes at a local gym on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Seeing her grace and feeling her instructions (which she would often sing with her lovely voice!), made me understand my own body better. I decided that her focus on strength in alignment was worth studying more closely––so I asked her if she had openings in her personal training schedule.
Thirty years later, I still work with her as a personal trainer and I still learn from her about grace, balance and wise use of my body. I’ve gone through many life changes (kids, divorce, career, COVID) in that time. So has Tammy. Yet she always has cheerfully, gracefully, kindly led me to a greater understanding.
During those years, I have made progress, not just in strength, but also in self-healing, flexibility, balance and alignment. I say without reservation that the years have been a gift, without which I might not still be able to do the activities I enjoy, like: hiking, biking, and swimming.”
“My son is a high functioning adult on the spectrum. As a result, he’s very shy and has significant social anxiety. Physical activity was a challenge he avoided for years before meeting Tammy.
Not only does he now look forward to his sessions with Tammy, he offers clear communication about what he needs and wants from her. He’s scheduling his own appointments and can be flexible with scheduling changes. This is a miracle!
As his mother, I see his physical strength, flexibility and presence developing alongside mental strength, flexibility and presence. His relationship independence with Tammy is testimony of the unique benefit of mind body strength training. This independence has offered me enormous relief! So much so, I too train with Tammy!!”
“I’ve been working with Tammy privately, seeing her twice a week either in my home or virtually, for many years. We met through a friend who was and remains very enthusiastic about her work.
I came to her with pretty serious low back pain due to an old compression fracture. Before we met, I had 2 rounds of nerve blocks, both of which had provided me with only temporary relief. I was currently seeing an acupuncturist weekly with minimal effect. It wasn’t until working with Tammy that the pain began to recede and eventually disappeared. If I miss a session, she has given me stretching exercises which support our work together.
Tammy has also taught me about the importance of developing a strong posture. She demonstrates this for me during our sessions. At 80, as I walk myself through everyday life, I hear her voice and correct the way I hold my head, my shoulders and my chest, “like the prow of a ship”.
Her knowledge of how the body works is really extraordinary and her empathy for the tricky process of its aging is calming and reassuring.
She’s also beautiful and a lot of fun.”
“I have been working with Tammy about twice a week for just over 25 years. (That’s not a typo, this has been a continuous journey since 1998). To put it in perspective, I was 40 when we started, with 2 young children and another one that wasn’t even on the way yet. I am 65 now and all the kids are out of the house! I was a finance professional for pretty much all of my career, and while I don’t work full-time anymore, I still am very engaged professionally with consulting and boards.
The primary reason I chose to get started was that, frankly, I didn’t want to be “old” as I got past 55. I was starting to observe that people I had known in their 20s and 30s were rounding the corner into late middle age and beyond, and quite a few of them seemed to be aging before my eyes. Poor muscle tone, rapidly thickening bodies, and perhaps above all, balance problems – I was hoping to avoid that.
I feel very strongly that my work with Tammy has been effective in helping me face aging successfully. I actually think my muscle tone is better than when I was 40 (or even 35). My balance is meaningfully better than it was, and very certainly better than it would have been, without the work; and my posture is unmistakably better than it was when I was much younger.
All of this is the physical side of it, but I will add another benefit that I never expected – this one is more mental and even spiritual. (Not to be too loosy-goosy about it – I really am not that guy). Tammy has a calming presence that has actually helped me relax and add some introspection to my daily life, which I have found very helpful as I navigated through middle age, career transitions, and all the things that busy professionals with equally busy family lives have to deal with. Those two hours or so a week with Tammy have really made a difference – I felt it within the first year for sure, but the journey has been equally rewarding all along the way. I really recommend that you give it a try.”
“Tammy brings her full self to our virtual personal training sessions! She is 100% committed to her role as fitness coach and gives vivid, clear instructions. At 65-years old, I feel stronger and more flexible as a result of our weekly workouts.”
“I am a 72-year-old, retired financial advisor, in awe of how knowledgeable Tammy is about the working mechanisms and capability of the body. Add that to her enthusiasm and encouragement and she makes it easy to want to be fit. When we first started working together, I was in a “I’ll give it a try” mode, but now I know how much working with Tammy has helped my alignment and coordination, flexibility and balance. She adds to my sense of control, strength and overall well-being.”
“As a 66-year-old retired university librarian living in northern New Jersey, I was no stranger to hard work physically or mentally. So, when I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s my world became incompatibly immobilized. My independence was quickly slipping away.
Many surgeries followed, as well as, several falls. I was scared. Tammy’s firm but gentle guidance has given me the optimism and know-how to improve my sense of balance, walking, stamina, and overall strength. But just as importantly, her mind body approach has instilled in me a greater respect for my own body, and of what I can achieve with focus and determination.”
“Tammy Wise, trainer extraordinaire.
Tammy Wise is an exceptional trainer. She has a thorough understanding of exercise
physiology, including how the body’s muscles work, how to strengthen them, and how to avoid injuring them. She’s inventive in devising exercise routines that are varied and challenging (but not too challenging).
Best of all, she is fun, enjoys people, and conducts training sessions with an enthusiasm that is infectious.”
